With millions of people using CBD oil, and thousand of legal cannabis dispensaries across the country, you might be surprised that employers and courts still test for marijuana or THC. So, does CBD show up on a drug test?
A drug test looking for illegal drug use such as cocaine or heroin likely also tests for marijuana use even though it may be legal in that state. A drug test may use saliva, hair, urine or blood to measure drug exposure, although the most common drug test is the urine test due to convenience, cost, and accuracy.
A urine drug test will look for metabolites of THC, including THC-COOH, rather than THC itself. It does not look for CBD or CBD metabolites. While most people who have use cannabis products will no longer have THC in their system 3-10 days after use, because THC is fat-soluble, some people may test positive for up to two months after cannabis use.
Can CBD oil cause you to fail a drug test?
The complex answer is maybe. There are three types of CBD products: full-spectrum CBD oil, broad-spectrum CBD oil, and CBD isolate products.
Full-spectrum CBD oil products contain CBD, minor cannabinoids like CBN, CBG, and CBC, terpenes, and 0.3% or less of THC. If the full-spectrum CBD oil product contains more than 0.3% THC, it cannot be legally sold as a hemp product, and must be sold in marijuana dispensary where other THC products are sold. Because a full-spectrum CBD oil product contains small amounts of THC, you will fail a drug test for marijuana.
Does Ladykind CBD show up on a drug test?
The simple answer is NO. Ladykind's broad-spectrum CBD oil tinctures contain ZERO THC, which means even if you took 10x the recommended dose, you shouldn't test positive for marijuana. You can learn more about what cannabinoids are in Ladykind CBD tinctures and CBD topicals by reading their third-party lab results.
Ladykind CBD does contain CBD, CBN, CBG, and other minor cannabinoids which are not tested for in drug tests, as well as terpenes that help our products work even better. Ladykind CBD is safe for moms to use.
What if I have to take a blood drug test instead?
In cases involving driving, such as an employee getting into a car crash while on the job or a DUI case, an employer or courts may request a blood test instead of a urine test. A blood test may be more sensitive than a urine test, and might detect trace amounts of THC that don't show up on regular CBD oil lab tests for THC potency. There are also some people that can convert small amounts of CBD into THC in their stomach, and that might be detected in a blood test.
If your job requires driving daily, such a Lyft driver, or truck driver, we recommend that you don't consume sublingual CBD products in the off chance you have a car accident and are subject to a blood drug test. Topical CBD products, like Ladykind's Tough Love Pain Relieving Cream, should not cause a positive for THC even with a blood test.
For regular people getting into a fender bender that don't drive for a living, having CBD oil in your system will not be an issue and you should not be subjected to a blood test.
